Drip Irrigation

Drip irrigation is a type of micro-irrigation system that has the potential to save water and nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either from above the soil surface or buried below the surface. The goal is to place water directly into the root zone and minimize evaporation.

Eng. Md. Rafius Sazzad, PEng, joined as Project Director of Irrigation Management Improvement Project for Muhuri Irrigation Project on 31st July 2018. He is an Additional Chief Engineer in Bangladesh Water Development Board Prior to joining the current post, he worked as a Superintendent Engineer and Executive Engineer of Irrigation Management Improvement Project for Muhuri Irrigation Project. Apart from this project, he worked in different offices of Bangladesh Water Development Board. He graduated with a BSc in Civil Engineering from KUET and received his PG Diploma (WRMS) in 2005 from the Hydroaid Institute in Italy. He joined the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) in 1993 as an Assistant Engineer. He has been served efficiently in various important river bank conservation, irrigation, flood control, and drainage projects of BWDB. During his tenure at the BWDB, he participated in various seminars in Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Italy, France, and the Netherlands. He is a professional engineer and life fellow of IEB. He was born in 1968 in the Cumilla district to an aristocratic Muslim family.
